About Us
David and June have formal backgrounds in botany, farming, school garden and ecology education, native plant propagation habitat restoration, higher education instruction, and wildlife tracking. Terry Kem has had deep ties to Fawnwood for decades and is the wizard at keeping things going around here! Terry has a background in Agricultural Economics and enviornmental education.
We are in our 2nd year of farming at Fawnwood. 2008 was a full year of investing in the infrastructure we needed to run a successful farm. In just one year, we established an irrigation system, built a permanent greenhouse, chicken coop, utility shed, tool shed, purchased growing supplies, planted 35 fruit and nut trees, planted perennial berries, herbs and flowers, opened up an acre, propagated and planted native plants and grew trial varieties of vegetables. Whew! I’m winded just writing it!
Many people have made the last year possible. Our friends and family contributed their time, muscles, love, advice and plants of all sorts as we settled in. Without this community, what we’re doing wouldn’t be as fulfilling. We look forward to expanding this community through our CSA program. We invite you to become a part of making it another fulfilling year!
